VENT NOW AND FOREVER
VENT is something I’ve dreamed about since the age of about 16 and it’s something I’ve took seriously since the age of 18. 18 year old me was mapping out the brand’s rise and ultimate success within 5 years, all I had to do was follow the simple steps I laid out for myself. Figure out what was needed to make designs, find someone or a shop to put these designs on clothing in a professional manner, sell these clothes locally, gain popularity and sell locally and online, established the brand enough to reach people who can relate to me and the brand I’ve created no matter where they are in the world, save enough money from profits to manufacture all clothing in-house, and finally establish the first brick and mortar location that’ll be the headquarters for the entire organization.
The path seemed simple enough and the timeframe sounded reasonable to me then. I’ve made a lot of different items within these 5 years and some of those items just simply reflected the style I wanted to recreate in my own way which I displayed in this video. Something I have realized over the course of these 5 years is that I’ve never actually took the time out to explain VENT, I’ve tried to show the world what VENT was and what it looked like without the thought process or mindset that even made me want to create what I create. This video was made to provide that long over due explanation of VENT but also hold myself accountable for maintaining and continuing what I’ve started. The “straightforward” path I thought I laid out for myself isn’t as easy as 18 year old me thought, but that doesn’t mean that I just give up on my dreams. In the attempt to follow that path, I’ve learned a lot about what is really required of me to accomplish everything within my 5 year plan and I’ve realized that sometimes you can’t always put a timeframe on your dreams. Sometimes, you have to begin chasing your dreams to really understand what it takes to achieve it and if it’s even possible to put a timeframe on the things you want. When it’s not possible it’s okay as long as you don’t give up.
For me, it was one of the hardest things to accept but I know 18 and 16 year old me would be more disappointed in me if I quit now rather than the fact that things didn’t work out exactly as we planned it. 16 year old me would be more motivated to take it seriously after seeing that it’s possible to start a brand, and 18 year old me would see that my goals need to be more realistic in terms of what I’m trying to accomplish today instead of 5 years from now. The slogan of AT ALL COSTS is meant to promote the idea of learning as you go to prevent the feeling of failure when goals aren’t met in specific timeframes. Happiness can never be dated and neither can VENT, the only timeframe that can be placed on both is NOW AND FOREVER.
